Welcome one and all to the Halloween Edition of Poetry Friday.  Please post your spooky poems on the pallet and links here.

Haven't tried writing a poem for the season yet?  No worries.  I have some prompts for you.

At a recent workshop, participants did erasure poetry with excerpts from Edgar Allen Poe,  I'll have my erasure poem on the padlet from Ligeia.  It was one of his earlier stories, published in 1838.  Below are three excerpts for you to try your hand.

Or maybe one of these phrases strike your fancy.
At the workshop, I wrote this:

Prompt: Moonlit GraveyardAll

Hallows’ Eve: For Beth

Full moon rising
Gravestones reflect the light

Silent wanders of the night

We stood with flashlights

Silent

Last year your ghost story
shivered in our bones
we trembled and no one

dared to tell another

This year, under the seed moon

We stand with flashlights

Silent

And leave an autumn bouquet

Finally, I offer this.  I discovered a tarot deck that is all from the writing of Edgar Allan Poe.  It's by Trisha Leigh Shufelt.  They are great for sparking a poem.  Mine from the 3 of candles in on the  Padlet.  I selected three cards from the major arcana.

Oh, my, Jone - if I wasn't 100 percent in the Halloween spirit before reading your post, I'm past 100 percent now! So spookily delicious. I agree with Jama about your shivers-inducing blackout poem - great stuff! Your "All Hallows' Eve" poem is beautiful. Love all the poetic prompts, too, and those fantastic Tarot cards! Thanks for sharing all, and for hosting us. Happy Halloweeeeeen!

Oooh, Jone, your blackout poem! Spooky indeed!
I don't have a spooky poem this week, but I did some erasure poetry when I tried a (sad) burning haibun with the Poetry Peeps. Thanks so much for hosting this week! Happy Halloween!

I love how you connected the past and the present because we were human beings then and are now, with similar human universal fears. It's a scary Halloween indeed. But have a happy one, none the less, Jone.

Jone, I come from a culture where Halloween has not been universally and traditionally embraced. It has been increasing its profile in recent years, but i suspect I missed that trend. Having said that, I did enjoy what you have created around the words of Poe using found/black out poetry- a form of poetry I enjoy very much,

Thank you for this spirited celebration of all things spooky, Jone! Will enjoy perusing the padlet this evening, since the only tRick or treaters in the mountains will be the last of the squirrels burrowing under my deck!

Happy Halloween Jone. Thanks for hosting the Roundup. Good to be reminded of Edgar Allen Poe this day—I remember reading him in high school; even then I was blown away not only by his heart stopping narratives, but of his amazing style—word usage, poetry, prose. I enjoyed your erasure poem too.

Jone, I have been waiting for your Happy Spooky Halloween PF Roundup but as usual one false twist landed me a boot and walker. Although I have been ready to launch my post, I did still need my burning haibun for the Poetry Sisters' challenge. You have quite the padlet stake ready to take off from your creative thinking and inticement for others to write. You provided so much for me to stroll through before the darkened sky sets the tone for a night of dazzling writing, dreams, and horrors. Many thanks for hosting and providing all I need to enjoy the day and the night.

WOW, Jone - you do Halloween right. "Ligeia" is a really spooky poem and such a fabulous piece of erasure poetry that goes right along with the theme of our burning haibun this month!

Jone! You master of poetry have provided a spectacular Halloween experience. I've spent the weekend reading poems from our friends, copying poems into my notebook and thinking about poems I want to write. Thank you for the feast! I'm not into tarot decks...but one with lines by Poe? Absolutely. I love how you use it for prompts. The Three Candles poem is wonderful. Listen to the ancestors...what a brilliant way of tying in a bit of spooky with true horror. Snaps to you for all of it. Thank you so much for the great round up.
