Spiritual Journey Thursday: 2025 One Little Word For the last thirteen years, I have chosen a One Little Word. My 2024 word was "Expand-take a Risk." It served me so well. From sharing art in the community to going to Japan, my world expanded. So in thinking for the word this, several came to mind. I've chosen DREAM for 2025. Langston Hughes' "Hold fast to dreams /For if dreams die/ Life is a broken-winged bird/That cannot fly. " has always resonated with me. Finding quotes that make me want to copy them down has been trickier. I found two that I used for golden shovels. A golden shovel, riffing on wilde. A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world. ~Oscar Wilde I disagree with Wilde...it's never a punishment to see the sunrise. And this quote by Anaïs Nin: Dreams are necessary to life. ~Anaïs Nin Dreamers find their way by moonlight Consort with the dreamers the ones who find the tchotchkes and trinkets left on their deck by crows. The ones who know the way to the sea by their whimsy and moonlight ©jone rush macculloch, 2025 (draft) Dreams are necessary to life Anais Nin In my dreams the ravens are at the feeder. They’ve returned the necessary keys and word, I lost last decade to the divine chaos of life. ©jone rush macculloch, 2025 (draft) Invitation for Saturday, January 18, 2025What: "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr. Let's create or write poems for persistence, for presence during the Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. Jone: Thanks for this post! I love your poems, especially consort with dreamers who find their way to the sea by whimsy and moonlight. Lovely! The MLK Jr quote also speaks to me. Have a good year!

Yeah. Sunrise is never a punishment. Surely he was being sarcastic? I like that you chose bits of his quote for your poem. And those ravens in the second one...oof! What a lucky visitation!

I like the quotes you found, Jone, and each one takes up a part of life to examine, at least to me. Ravens are special in my family. My husband loved them & collected them in art pieces, and a few books. Since they are known to "take" things, it's very fun that you wrote about them returning things! You session invitation is intriguing but I'm not sure I can make it because of other commitments. I will try! Happy New Year with the lovely "dream" guidance.

Jone, your blog post is filled with wonderful thoughts and a fabulous event in January. Dream is a new one word that I never heard of before. I am sure that you will find many outlets to build dreams that touch your life. I can imagine what you come up with through poetry, artwork, photography, and any other creative task you come up with. Thanks for the invitation to your event. Tanita;s swap is clever - love the rock poem, and providing you with words for future prompts is a great idea. Have a great weekend.

I love the pairing of a golden shovel and the word DREAM. It's like a treasure chest of dreams just waiting to be discovered. This imagery with your form is delightful, and your word creates a feeling of new possibilities.

Jone, when we dream, we do. So many accomplishments started off as dreams.

Jone, your Golden Shovels are lovely and inspiring. I agree about the sunrise as punishment part, and I'm glad you left it off because the first half of the quote is perfect. Thanks for the invitation to the creative time on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it.
