![]() It's a new year and a new month. Catherine at Reading to the Core is hosting Poetry Friday this week. She shared that #inklings have a new challenge by Heidi: “write a poem which weighs the pros and cons of #change.” She added, “for extra fun, use any form, but consider starting in one form and gradually transitioning in the course of the poem to a quite different form.” And the Inklings created an exquisite corpse poem for the challenge. ![]() I am continuing my #smallpoemsjanuary. I was able write a few this week amid trying to get over laryngitis, hubs still sick, and the latest with our burst pipes repair. This is our current state of our bedroom. Hopefully, the equip can be removed on Friday. I am looking forward to creating art on Sunday for my 2023 One Little Word.

These are lovely little poems to go with the spectacular images--I love the kettle sings.

I am sorry for the broken pipe disaster & the illness, Jone, hoping January will bring relief! Your poems show such beauty and reflection with the photos. I enjoy every time you share on social media, too. Happy New Year!

Thanks. I am trying to be more consistent. 1/6/2023 09:26:17 pm
Jone, I always love to read your poems. These are terse with very interesting last lines. The sky photos are stunning, especially the sunset one. I hope your issues are settled soon. Thanks for sharing your work.

I just noticed the 2023 pricked in your shortbread! (aside--I tried a few fancied-up shortbread recipes from the NYT, but none were as good as just plain shortbread. I think I'll make some this week!)

Ooh, I am glad someone noticed the 2023. I was looking up information about shortbread and learned there are different names for the presentations. A small pie like sliver is called a "petticoat tail"

It has been an adventure with the pipes for sure. 1/10/2023 03:54:39 am
Burst pipes are no fun! Hope everything is back to normal soon. Thank you for sharing your lovely images and the small poems they inspired. I found the last one especially poignant, as my father died just after Christmas 24 years ago. The loss always feels fresh at this time of year. 1/10/2023 04:17:40 am
You've had a run of it, Jone, and are still focusing on the small glories! They are all lovely, but my favorite is the second dawn and the kettle. Wishing you peace in 2023! Comments are closed.
