Welcome, welcome, welcome. I've been wanting up my website game for awhile. I'm so glad you are here!
Today, I have a special treat because I get to share the latest collaboration of Janet Wong and Sylvia Vardell, HOP TO IT: Poems to Get You Moving. This is a SNEAK Peek because the book's birthday it OCTOBER 15, 2020. PLUS...five people who comment on this blog, will get their very own copy thanks to the generosity of Pomelo Books. How cool is that?
A few poems in the book tie in well with today being NATIONAL MATH STORYTELLING DAY #MathStorytellingDay as well as #NationalBraveDay
Everyday Use reminds us that good muscles, a compassionate heart can help us to be brave as we march on the long road to justce.
In March, I met Xelena Gonzalez at the AWP2020 convention in San Antonio, TX (maybe one of the last conventions before the Covid shutdown). I love the idea that sometimes we just need warm up in our chair to be brave enough to dance.
In Reach!, Rebecca Balcárcel, reminds us that we can reach for our dreams and reach for bravery if we stretch our hands to the sky.
Our final sneak peek involves math and what a poem it is! Mixing math and science and movement with a stamp and clap. Thank you Joan Bransfield Graham.
What poetry goodness do you bring to the world today? We certainly are in need. Please join the fun. Don't forget to comment for a chance to win a copy which will be mailed to you in mid-October.

Hi Jone--The site looks beautiful! Looking forward to coming back this weekend to read all the goodness. I tried to use Mr. Linky but when I did the image, it got stuck on the thumbnail and then never entered me. And now it won't let me try again. I'm in this week at https://wp.me/p6Bicx-7Qr with a High-Stepping Hippo zeno. Thanks for hosting!
9/28/2020 07:04:37 am
I figured it out Laura, I had accendently made it so I had to approve the thumbnail.
9/28/2020 07:05:36 am
Thank you, I figured out the Linky glitch.
9/24/2020 02:22:33 pm
Hi Jone! Thanks for hosting and for putting forth the invitation to explore bravery and math storytelling. Hop to It looks like another winner from Sylvia and Janet. I especially like Joan Bransfield Graham's poem - who knew we had so many bones in just our wrist/hands and ankles/feet? Love the look of your new site as well. :)
9/28/2020 07:06:12 am

Thanks, Laura, I agre about the Zetta poem. Can’t wait to see your poem in the book.

The new site looks great! Thanks for hosting this week and for the sneak peek into "Hop To It". My link didn't seem to be posting, so I'll share it here: https://nixthecomfortzone.com/2020/09/24/limericks-to-the-rescue/
9/28/2020 07:10:42 am

Thanks for hosting, Jone, and BRAVA on your beautiful new website! :0) I love these sneak peeks. (I'm delighted to have a poem in this collection, too - can't wait to share this book with teacher-daughter Morgan. PLUS, it will keep all of us moving, won't it?) I won't be able to stomp or clap without thinking of all of Joan's bones. (I don't have a real post today - just a signpost to yours!)
9/28/2020 07:11:34 am
Thank you, Robyn. It;s going to be a fun book,
9/24/2020 06:04:44 pm
Jone! What a gorgeous new website. I love it. It's a great space for your poems and all your gorgeous photos. Thank you for hosting this week. I'm so happy to see a sampling of Hop To It! What a refreshing and needed collection of poems for today. I have my eye on that skeleton poem for my school's Poetry Pandemonium held in the spring.

Thank you. I had to fix Linky.
9/24/2020 07:12:52 pm
Thanks for hosting Jone and debuting the lovely new website! I love the way the flower at the top disappears, then is revealed. The 'Hop To It" book by Sylvia & Janet looks like such fun to students to read & teachers to share, plus seeing people I know in it - also fun! I guess the linky isn't working so here's my link: https://www.teacherdance.org/2020/09/poetry-friday-end-beginning.html I wrote about the transition from summer to fall during this crazy time, an etheree.
9/24/2020 07:39:38 pm
FYI, everyone. The links actually work when you click on them. They just aren't showing the thumbnail pics!
9/28/2020 07:14:45 am
Thanks, there was a glitch with Linky in that I set it to make me approve the lthumbnails but I fixed it.
9/24/2020 08:17:28 pm

Thanks for hosting Jone and thanks you a;so for bringing movement and energy to our attention in your post. I particularly enjoyed reach. It gave me an instant connection to my one year old grand-daughter who reaches a little higher and wider each day.
9/28/2020 07:33:42 am
Isn’t Reach a great poem. Thanks for stopping by.
9/25/2020 02:49:02 am
Your new website is lovely, Jone! Thank you for hosting today and sharing a sneak peek of Hop To It! Kids will love every one of these poems, especially "Bones & Math." Who knew there were so many bones in our hands and feet?!

9/26/2020 03:24:53 am
I'm back, and these poems are fabulous! I've been trying to figure out how to do a dance party through a screen -- we could dance in our chairs! And I am in love with the fact that I move over half the bones in my body when I stomp and clap! So cool!
9/28/2020 07:31:31 am
They are so fun, Thanks for stopping by.
9/25/2020 04:03:05 am

Thanks for the chance to see an early glimpse of a beautiful book, and for hosting. Your re-design is lovely and welcoming! Here's my link, as Mr. Linky doesn't like my thumbnail images: http://saralewisholmes.blogspot.com/2020/09/poetry-friday-to-image-of-hippo-or.html

I also have a poem in the book, so no need to enter me in the drawing.Today's my first day back to PF in a long time. It's feels good to reunite with friends.

Thanks for sharing the preview of this book. It looks fabulous! I enjoyed all the poems, but I think my favorite is "Reach." I like how it goes from the mundane to the universal.

9/25/2020 04:45:23 pm
How I love this idea of poems to get you moving, especially in these days of virtual learning and too much screen time! Love the math integration as well - thinking on how much more I'd have enjoyed math if it had seemed as fun and exciting as poetry to my young self. Thank you for all of this and for hosting Poetry Friday.
9/28/2020 07:17:54 am
Isn’t that true? We need to move more. Thanks for stopping by.
9/26/2020 06:48:50 am
Jone, how wonderful! A spruce new blog and an exciting new book (which I am delighted to have a giggly poem in)! I love that you have highlighted pieces by two new poets to go with the two I already knew. This is going to be a perfect virtual learning collection! I'm very late with my post (we had an 18th birthday to celebrate this week) but here I am. Thanks for hosting!
9/28/2020 07:17:11 am
I can’t wait to read your poem! It’s going to be terrific. Happy 18th birthday person!
