Poetry Friday, Week 2: My OLW Reveal

1/12/2023

PictureGraphic design by Amber Fleek
Welcome to Poetry Friday. Susan at Chicken Spaghetti has  hosting duties today.

In December my One Little Word came to me: CURIOUS.
It was right around when I met Pamela Sue Johnson, a local mixed media artist.  I took her online class last Sunday to create an image with my OLW.
As I enter a new decade in sixteen days (or have I already entered it? A friend said when I turned 69, I entered my 7th decade) I have been thinking a lot of the importance of staying CURIOUS. Curious and asking the question: "What if" has me teaching an online class (I fell like I am facilitating it), submitting poems, and creating art.

That's a good one, Jone. And "curious" is an awesome word for a new year and a new decade. The art is beautiful; teal is a favorite color of mine.

What a great idea to create art with your OLW--and "curious" is such a good one to keep in mind! I love your "what if" approach.

Happy Birthday, Jone! Curious is a great word for everyone, not just those of a certain age because our brains need new things to wonder about. I love your collage, the colors and the haiku. Wonderful.

A Curious Soul fits you already, Jone but how empowering to march in 2023 with it on your OlW banner. Your aquas & creative art/poem warm me up this cold Friday the 13th. I'm applauding your facilating/leading/teaching others, which you already accomplish here. Weekend wonders to you.

Curious is such a great word to start a new year and a new decade. There's no telling where it might lead. Happy birthday!

Jone, Happy Birthday! Wow, what a gorgeous mixed media art collage! I love how you have used curious in different ways in your art. Curious is a great OLW for you! I am excited for you in your new and continued adventures in 2023! Beautiful post. I looked at the website of the artist you took a class from. She seems amazing! Thank you for sharing your inspiration.

I love your word! The world could use more curiosity (and curiosity makes it much easier to handle the world). Your collage is gorgeous and I have so many questions about your process. I made a digital vision board for my word, but this is so much more interesting. Hmmm.....

I'm realizing that perhaps when I named my IG account, I was choosing my (two) OLWs for all time: curious.appreciative. Looking forward to being CURIOUS with you all year long and APPRECIATIVE of your art, your poetry, your new-found teaching gig!

Beautiful image, Jone. I know curious will carry you into all sorts of new places this year. Happiest of birth-decades and share your curious with your new students!

Oh, how wonderful! I am very in favor of that OLW, and your artwork to surround your wee but powerful poem is gorgeous. Your new teaching gig will give you many opportunities to be curious, I'm sure! Go howl at that wolf moon!
