![]() Linda at A Word Edgewise is hosting Poetry Friday this week. She has a new thought about poetry this week: "cluster poems." They are based on a visit to a museum with college friends. Today I have another photo haiku from my recent trip to SoCal. This was a rock at the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden. 7/14/2023 12:06:48 am
Jone, the photo is a wonderful background for your haiku. I like the thought on making connections. Have a wonderful weekend.

OH, my goodness...this is a winner. The last line is surprising and perfect. Yes, visits with old friends are the best medicine for my soul. 7/14/2023 07:01:19 am
What a beautiful image and thought! I am constantly scraping lichens off things; now I will think about them differently. : )

Joan, this is a beautiful haiku! The photo is amazing-so like an outer space planet view. The last line is both a statement and a plea, I think! Well done! 7/14/2023 06:08:33 pm
Love your haiku and photo Jone. You were in So Cal while I was in No Cal! Ha! It looks like you had an inspiring trip! Thank you for sharing this haiku - photo combination. 7/15/2023 04:00:54 am
The pairing of poem and image is fabulous. I'm fascinated by lichen and always think I should learn more about it. We were just in New Brunswick, Canada and a placard we read said there were over 400 species of lichen within the national park we were visiting. Wow! 7/15/2023 06:34:47 am
I'm obsessed with lichen. It's one of the reasons I bought a macro lens. 7/15/2023 07:43:08 am
I love that you find hearts in all places, Jone. I see them too, in slate I find around our property, in tree trunks, in pine boughs. And "fragments...connect us" -- sooo perfect.

Hearts in nature always seem to be love when we need it.

Beautiful photo and haiku, Jone. Hearts in nature are always such a special surprise. Like a little hug or kiss. 7/16/2023 12:52:12 pm
I love that combo of image and poem. Amazing how I can see the heart and a space image of our planet when I look at it...

Ooh Jone, I am delighted with your poem and photo, a beautiful pairing! I love finding different colors of lichen like you have in your photo. I love how your last line, "connects us" ties the poem together. I also love how your word choices with the /k/ sounds, n, s, r, and t consonance work together giving the reader a connection of sounds through the poem, too. Excellent. Hope you're having a great vacation. Thank you for sharing. :) 7/18/2023 06:20:20 pm
Yes to more connecting and I love your lichen heart line and image–it makes me think about space too, thanks Jone! Comments are closed.
