Welcome to Poetry Friday. Mary Lee is hosting at her new space, A(nother)Year of Reading. Her villanelle with a clunker from Linda Mitchell, surprised her as a retirement poem. I remember that feeling the first year after retirement, not preparing for school as soon as August 1st arrive. Happy new adventures, Mary Lee. Amy Souza, fabulous creator of the Spark collaborative art series, also offers art postcard swaps. For me, it's usually combined with poetry. Last month, I made copies of a two page spread and divided it into four puzzle pieces for my four recipients. Then I played with washi tape and ink (when I applied the final coat of sealer, the ink bled which is kind of cool.) elfin-storm morning at hand the southern moon like phantoms the chains lie silent lovers fled he arose into her dream he melted frost wind blows iced gusts rave leave me here to fade sweet dreamer

So cool! Jone, you are making such beautiful image and word pairings. I bought myself a gel print plate....and have been having fun. Oh, my....I need more space for all the drying paper I have played with. I can't believe I've collaged all this time without one. I love seeing your newest. I also found some old family letters that I intend to get into a collage...you inspire me!

Thank you. I am excited for you that you bought a gel plate. Can't wait to see what you create and using the letters. 8/5/2021 03:50:15 pm
I wish I were on your exchange list. These are great! We went similar routes with our postcards. I love the way the color enhances the last one. I want to add color the next time I do zentangle poems.

Jone, I'm loving your colorful art and poems! My favorite poem and art paring is "elfin-storm/morning at hand/ the southern moon." In your art I see the storm with grays, blues, and pink. Your design looks like clouds and waves to me and maybe a sunrise. On the bottom the brown triangles to me look like a mountain or this new "southern moon." "Elfin" conjures up Celtic for me like moors in rugged Scotland or Ireland. Your hyphenation with "storm" excited me because I love storms and your art looked stormish! Great word choices! I love the connection between the poems. Well done!. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me.

Thank you. Do you know that 'elfin-storm' was how Keats wrote it. I was going for the Scottish moor look and actually searched images for the moors. I'm glad someone saw that. 8/5/2021 08:14:58 pm
So much creativity. Zentangle poetry is so much fun - and you are stretching that to the max!

Oh these are fabulous zentangle postcards, Jone. I love each poem, and to me the mystery of them. They call for "more" of the story!

Thank you, Linda. 8/6/2021 03:56:31 am
Whoa! Jone, each of these is fascinating and wonderful, but I love them especially as a set, both visually and poetically. You and John Keats plus zentangle = magic.

Oh Jone. Teach me how. I LOVE these and agree 100% with Heidi. Wow!! Beautiful. They so speak to me. Can you send me a link for the directions if you have one? I want to try and thank you. (I visited SPARK and will be back.)

Thank you. It was quite pleasing to create these. 8/6/2021 11:12:13 am
Jone, your artwork and poetry have risen to a new level. I love all the work you did, especially Swap 2 & 3. They are wonderful love poems and all relate to nature. Like Janet, I would love to know how you created these collage postcards.

Hi Marilyn, 8/9/2021 04:35:36 am
These are beautiful, Jone! I love seeing them as a group and am sure that each of your recipients was delighted with them. I was especially drawn to the second one and that combination of phantoms and chains--so evocative! 8/10/2021 08:49:21 pm
These are all wonderful Jone! One and two remind me of Joseph Yoakum's paintings which I just saw at the Art Institute of Chicago. Here's a link to the exhibit: 8/11/2021 05:29:25 am
Jone, what a feast for the eyes and the mind! You've made me want to spend the day with pens, words, and visions. Comments are closed.
