Poetry Friday, Week 38: #inktober and #poemtober

10/15/2021

Bridget at wee words for wee ones is hosting today. I am looking forward to her new anthology, 10•10 Poetry Anthology: Celebrating 10 in 10 Different Ways.

Earlier this week, I posted the #inktober and #poemtober for Days 8 through 13 on Instagram.  Today I have Days 14 and 15 for Poetry Friday.  I admit both were a challenge, one more than the other for an autumnal theme.

Jone,
Did/do you consider yourself to have "artistic leanings/talents" (whatever that means) as far as drawing? I am enjoying your postings and also I am curious about trying this as I mentioned to you at the end of summer with your collaging work and zentangles. I guess if we never venture into the water we never find out what we might be able to do. So you do definitely inspire me. I feel that spooky-ness of the tick tock connected to midnight and that is a great grandfather clock. I would have to look at something in order to make a sketch that might resemble the real like items. (I did "take" actually work through Betty Edwards' first edition of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and found I was able to do so much more, but it is a zone I have to work hard to get into and I also have to practice a lot, but I was able to see differently and also was able to recreate what I was looking at even if it was not "high quality" art, it pleased me.

I love that you're doing both poems and illustrations for your daily prompts! I'm lucky to get just poems finished.I can "hear" a grandfather clock ticking in the quiet night in that last line "tick, tick, tock." Thanks for sharing these today!

I love that you're drawing, too, Jone, for these prompts, and love that crow that's "not afraid". Crows fascinate me. Sometimes driving through neighborhoods when I spot them I pull over to watch their antics. Happy weekend!

Your poem/drawings are fabulous, Jone. I especially like the thought of a scarecrow wearing a helmet. To protect against the crow's talons? Thanks for the shout out about the anthology. I appreciate it. :)

Jone, great job. I am enjoying your illustrations and short poems. I'm not nearly as brave attempting the sketches, but I like the idea of doing that too. Maybe next year! I like your scarecrow wearing a helmet.

I'm so glad you stopped by my post because I had missed clicking on your link with the small "jone" on Bridget's round up.

Jone, I am getting more and more behind in my PF reading but I am so glad that I stopped by tonight to read your new poems with great illustrations. Tick Is a great poem for Halloween and I love the small details you added to your drawing. Your work is pure fun at this post.
