I'm combining Spiritual Journey Thursday and Poetry Friday. Patricia J. Franz is hosting SJT with thinking about the word love. Mary Lee at A(nother) Year of Reading has a secret to share. Today is the Irish holiday, St. Brigid, patron saint of poetry as well as dairy farmers, cattle, midwives, babies, and blacksmiths. So today, I thinking about how we are at the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox. The word love is a perfect word for these days, we need more for the world. A book I dip in and out of is the Adam Cara by John O'Donohue. I was taken by this quote on love: “When you send that love out from the bountifulness of your own love, it reaches other people. This love is the deepest power of prayer.” ~John O'Donohue And there was this one: “Love opens the door of ancient recognition. You enter. You come home to each other at last. As Euripides said, ‘Two friends, one soul.‘” ~John O'Donohue Recently, I've been seeing the arrival of dandelions, St. Brigid's flower and sign of early spring. I thought about the dandelion photo I took in Kildare, Ireland and that first sentence in the second quote. 2/1/2024 09:11:52 pm
Your golden shovel is a prayer, Jone. I love O'Donohue's BLESSINGS.

This is such a good mentor post for me. I have been a tiny bit overwhelmed with writing tasks this week and have not written a SJT post. I tend to think that that post must be long. But, it doesn't. I can be this deep reflection in a few lines. Happy St. Brigid Day. Wouldn't it be fun to know her face to face? I'll bet she has stories to tell! 2/2/2024 09:22:07 am
Jone, in the simplicity of the ordinary dandelion weed, you have created a lasting thought. What if all people practiced what you wrote: "Let each action be love." ??? 2/2/2024 01:28:38 pm
I didn't even realize today is the midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox! (Aha moment!) The perfect time for Groundhog Day! Thank you for helping me put the pieces together and tying the package with a bow of love!

Lovely thoughts, Jone. Thank you for this. 2/2/2024 03:53:37 pm
Jone, your poem and photo are so gorgeous. The dandelion "as an earthly sun" What a wonderful image. And the whole poem is so uplifting, prayerful, and gives me hope. Jone, beautiful thoughts about love. I think my favorite is You come home to each other as last. And I love dandelion suns flinging their sunshine across the grasses. It's a lovely sight (although my dad didn't think so). Love the offerings in the middle of your poem. 2/3/2024 03:05:54 am
Love "let each action be love based" -- yes. Beautiful thoughts all around.

Why had I never thought of a dandelion as holding the sun, the moon, and the stars all in one?!?! Perfect! 2/3/2024 05:26:44 am
Looking at another being with love is the answer. I'm hoping for your 'dandelion wishes', Jone. Beautiful hope! 2/4/2024 11:13:46 am
beautiful poem and photo, Jone. Love is profound, worth meditating on, and the only thing that can save us. I love the quote, "Two friends, one soul." 2/4/2024 04:58:47 pm
Jone, how lovely, how meditational, how uplifting! "Offer an open door," that series of lines--beautiful. And thank you for facilitating so many gorgeous postcards! Comments are closed.
