Today is a day for writing. I’m taking a class by Emily Whitman. There are eight students. Each week we bring pages and every other week you read to the group for feedback. I’ve been taking this class since last January It has been a tremendous help for me in staying focused. Earlier in January, I joined the group #100daysofnotebooking. I am finding that it really helps to center me for the day. Monday and today, I did two pages for today’s writing. Priming the pump. At this point in my revisions, my biggest barrier sometimes is what is in-between my ears. I can psych myself into not writing. I have really been working on giving myself permission to accomplish small steps. The process of revising into multiple voices has created new possibilities from the original draft. I’ve moved things around and it has opened paths.
Today, when I finished the pages to turn in tomorrow, I’d created four new poems. (sometimes the original poems can be retro-fitted, yesterday wasn’t that time. It’s exciting and terrifying all at once. It’s uncharted waters for sure where I am pulling back and finding the wounds and heart.
